Shinseki Resigns

BY JOHN FEEHERY
Reprinted from TheFeeheryTheory.com

To be clear, the reason that Eric Shinseki resigned was because of political panic on the left, not the right.

It was Democrats who were up for re-election in tough states who were most vociferous in their demands for Shinseki’s head. Republicans were more prone to ask for answers to their many questions. The House Republican leadership was exceedingly cautious, because they were afraid that once the VA Secretary resigned, the story would end. Continue reading

Finding Ukraine

BY RICH GALEN

I was in Ukraine over the weekend as part of the Official Observer mission courtesy of the International Republican Institute.

My two-person team was assigned to Kharkiv, which is the province just north of the two provinces that have been under siege by the separatists. It is adjacent to the Russian border. The city is about 25 miles from the border. Continue reading

“Abigail is a versatile reader who uses her natural emphatic abilities to assist you in bringing love and peace into your heart and life. Armed with the gifts of clairvoyance, clairsentience and mediumship, she is also able to read all situations and receive your important messages from the spirit guides. To connect, all Abigail asks for is an open mind and an open heart.”

And presumably an open wallet. Continue reading

Fallout From Conservative Extreme Positions

BY JOHN FEEHERY

Originally published in the Wall Street Journal

The Club for Growth, fresh from a humiliating loss in an Idaho House primary – incumbent Rep. Mike Simpson won despite the Club’s heavy spending for challenger Bryan Smith – endorsed a primary candidate in Georgia who said earlier this year that he would rather see another terrorist attack in the U.S. than have the Transportation Security Administration prod and probe U.S. citizens. Aiming at Leaders, Hitting Followers

BY JOHN FEEHERY
Reprinted from TheFeeheryTheory.com

According to the Center for Public Integrity, outside conservative groups have spent three dollars attacking fellow Republicans for every one dollar spent attacking President Obama and his Democratic allies.

Much of that money has been aimed at the Republican leadership, including House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Minority LeaderMitch McConnell, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden, and Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn. Continue reading

Two Women in the News

BY RICH GALEN
Reprinted from Mullings.com

Our Nation’s Capital has been agitated to the point of needing medication over the two big stories involving Hillary Clinton and Jill Abramson.

Everyone this side of Neptune knows who Hillary Clinton is. I’m not that sure that outside of the major population centers on the two coasts that many people know who Jill Abramson is. Continue reading

The More Things Change

BY RICH GALEN
Reprinted from Mullings.com

About a week ago I wrote a column entitled Tea Party R.I.P. in which I proclaimed the Tea Party’s hand-rubbing glee in backing candidates who could not, and would not, win in general elections had lost its steam.

Lo and behold, on Tuesday, Tea Party-backed candidate Ben Sasse won the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Nebraska and will doubtless take his seat in the Senate on or about January 3, 2015. Continue reading

Veterans Affairs = Fail

On Friday, I drove down to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina to attend the retirement ceremony of Colonel Mike Ceroli.

I have written about Col. Ceroli before – including from Iraq where we first met more than 10 years ago. He was the commander of the Psychological Operations battalion while I was there. Continue reading

Tea Party R.I.P

BY RICH GALEN
Reprinted from Mullings.com

Writing the obituary of the Republican Tea Party movement may be premature, but that doesn’t change the inevitability of the glide path it is on.

On Tuesday night, the Tea Partiers fielded candidates in a bunch of states against what are generally considered “establishment” candidates. I don’t doubt that I am an establishment Republican, so on behalf of the Establishment, I accept the tag. Continue reading

Condi’s Protest

BY JOHN FEEHERY

“My only plan is to continue fighting for freedom of speech and marginalized narratives in our country.”

That’s what Amani Al-Khatahtbeh wrote in the Huffington Post earlier this year in a piece where she described how she was forced to publish pro-Israel opinion pieces in the student newspaper at Rutgers University. Continue reading

Benghazi. Again. Still.

BY RICH GALEN
Reprinted from Mullings.com

I am not generally a conspiracy believer, but last week, as the result of a Freedom of Information action by Judicial Watch – a conservative legal organization – at least one email was released that directly linked the White House to the immediate reaction to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans, including the American Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens.

The Benghazi attacks took place on September 11, 2012. The Obama Administration’s first response – and it was a significant response – was that the attack on the American compound in Benghazi was a reaction by “extremists” to a video that had been released that Muslims felt mocked the Prophet Mohammed.
