Bill Murray’s character in the movie “Ghostbusters,” Dr. Peter Venkman, had the iconic line: “He slimed me!”
The Democratic Party has taken on the role of the Ghosts in “Ghostbusters”: They are all about the slime.
I was on the Ed Schultz Show last night when Ed showed Louisiana Congressman Charlie Melancon’s new commercial against David Vitter, who he is running against for the Senate.
Louisiana has had some tough times lately. It is still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. The oil spill has had a grave impact on the economy. According to some analysts, the job situation down there is reaching Depression type levels.
Serious issues.

I just heard for the first time the government-sponsored commercial for Medicare starring Andy Griffith. Remember him? Mayberry Sheriff Andy Taylor?
In the ad, Ole Andy harkens back 1965, when, he says, a lot of good things happened – like Medicare. That’s not how I remember 1965, but I digress.
Andy’s sitting in an easy chair petting a dog. He says: “This year, like always, we will have our guaranteed benefits and with the new law, more good things are coming, like free check ups, lower prescription costs and more ways to protect us and Medicare from fraud.” That’s about it. That’s the ad.
Initial cost for this vignette: 700,000 of your tax dollars.
Not only is the ad an egregious misuse of tax dollars, it is an injustice to and deception of American seniors, most of whom, according to the polls, don’t like Obamacare.

So, according to various news reports, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) is going to “investigate” corporate America for reacting to the president’s new healthcare law by promising to take huge tax write-downs because of the expected negative impact of the law on their bottom lines. This kind of reminds me of when O.J. Simpson decided to launch an “investigation” into who killed his wife.
Who killed the jobs, Mr. Waxman?
